Whether you want to gather at a friend’s house for an intimate party with cheeseboards and wine aplenty, head out for karaoke or brunch, or hit the town for a Girl’s Night Out (let’s be thankful it falls on a Friday this year!), we’ve rounded up the best ways to celebrate Galentine’s Day in 2025!

Top Tips For The Perfect Galentine’s Day Party

Choose A Theme

Parties are always more fun when there’s a theme! Take Halloween as an example — it wouldn’t be the spooky occasion it’s cracked up to be without blood-coloured cocktails, haunting homeware and ghoulish décor – so why should Galentine’s Day be any different? Once you’ve decided on a venue, think about what decorations and knick-knacks are needed to pull it all together. You could go for the classic heart-shaped bunting, or you could truly embrace the spirit of Galentine’s with pink champagne glasses, sophisticated floral arrangements and endless baked goods.

Sassy Tip: Be the hostess with the mostest with goodie bags for all your friends to take home to remember this special day. You could include chocolates, tiny perfumes, nail polish, gift vouchers, red lipsticks, matching jewellery (did mood rings ever go out of style?) and personalised cards.

Sort Out Food & Drinks

There are a couple of ways you can go with this, and all have their pros and cons. If you fancy yourself a Master Chef or just love getting busy in the kitchen, whip up the snacks and mains yourself to make sure it’s all on-theme. Bakers might lean towards heart-shaped cookies and cupcakes with pink frosting and sprinkles, or you could put out a beautiful (and Instagrammable) charcuterie plate, towers of tiny sandwiches and mini pizzas. The main drawbacks here are time and money. It’ll take a good chunk out of your day to cook everything, it might cost a pretty penny to buy all the food and drinks, and there’s no worse way for a party to be spoiled than by someone having an allergic reaction because you weren’t diligent about the ingredients!

You could always opt for a potluck as many gatherings do. This ensures everyone gets involved and the burden isn’t on you to please everyone. Just make sure there’s some kind of planning done beforehand (including enough cutlery and crockery for everyone) so you don’t wind up with all your guests arriving with red velvet cakes and prosecco – not that that wouldn’t make for a great party…

Get it catered! This is the most expensive of the options, but also the most hassle-free. Hong Kong has several catering companies for a wide variety of cuisines, many of them will come to set up with their own equipment and some even provide staff to help serve and clean up when it’s over. You could even turn to multiple companies to make sure everyone’s tastes are accounted for – doesn’t a sushi and BBQ party sound amazing?

Plan Fun Activities

First step: know your audience! The last thing you need is to announce a game and have a chorus of groans and eye-rolling. If your guests are a close-knit group, there’s a good chance they’ll just be happy with free-flowing booze and nibbles to keep them satiated for the whole day. But if you want your friends to come away with a unique experience, consider this:

• Source bountiful blossoms from your local flower shop and create a DIY flower arranging workshop – you can even have prizes for the most beautiful bouquet (perhaps an elegant vase to take their masterpiece home in?).
• Order in from a liquor store and have yourselves a tasting session – of course, rosé would be the obvious choice, but you could try white or red wines from all over the world or venture out into other spirits if your girls can handle their booze!
• If you’re veering away from alcohol-centric events (Dry January didn’t quite work out for us, but we’re still trying!), you can do tasting sessions with pretty much anything, from cheese and cold cuts to unique fruits and teas.
• Reach out to makeup-artists in Hong Kong to see if they can drop in for some makeovers! You might want to give your friends a heads-up so they don’t arrive with a full face already on and are ready to go from drab to fab in the flick of a mascara wand. Why not hire a photographer to capture all the Galentine’s fun and maybe do an “impromptu” photoshoot once everyone’s dolled up?
• At-Home Bake Off! Get yourselves all the necessary raw ingredients from your nearest supermarket, some cute cookie cutters and food colouring and have a themed Bake Off with your best mates. Extra points if the final product both looks and tastes amazing! Just keep your fingers crossed it doesn’t get too messy…

Where To Celebrate Galentine’s Day In Hong Kong

While there are no set rules for how you can celebrate this day, there are some activities and events that just scream “this is our day now!” more than others.

• Book a creative workshop with your friends that leaves you with cute keepsakes, like glass-blown cups and scented candles
• Hire a whole private dining room for an elevated experience with delicious drinks and exotic eats
• If your girls love a good sing-along, go for a karaoke night! Luckily Hong Kong has plenty of options, whether you’re all fine singing in public or want a private room where you can belt to your heart’s content
• Does anything say Galentine’s Day quite like brunch? Toss in a free-flow option, big sharing plates and scenic views and we’re there!
• Now this isn’t for everyone, but if you and your friends love working up a sweat, plan a hiking day or hit up a fun class that’ll leave everyone panting and feeling like their best self
• Head to a park and have yourselves a cute picnic! Just make sure everyone knows their assignments: blankets, food, drinks, utensils and everything else needed for a grape day out

• There aren’t many perfect excuses for an indulgent pamper, but Galentine’s is one of them! Go for a spa day with your gal pals, replete with facials and massages – or see if you can book out a salon for hairdos and manicures for all!
• Have an even number in your group? Make use of the huge number of restaurants offering great deals for “couples” on Valentine’s Day – we’re pretty sure they can’t refuse you for taking over a few tables for a girl’s night out…
• Paint the town red with a Happy Hour deal sure to kickstart the evening! Then wander (or stumble) over to a new bar – or one of the best in Hong Kong – with your girls, this is a great time for the group to try a variety of items on the menu so you can all find your new favourite drink
• If your mates are members of Women Of Hong Kong, grab tickets to their dedicated Galentines night, complete with games, drinks and a potluck
• Fancy a bit of trivia as well as a delectable menu? Head to Flat Iron Steak on 14 February for bubbles, oysters and lip-smacking mains, then turn to Flat Iron Burger on 15 February for a Galentine’s Day Trivia event themed around “Sex and the City”

Honestly, however you choose to celebrate this day, as long as you have your girls around you, you can’t go wrong!
