In a new clip from Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm, Kazakh journalist Borat (Sacha Baron Cohen) visits an anti-abortion Christian pregnancy center asking that the baby inside his daughter be removed. But all is not as it appears.
Borat has just fed his daughter a cupcake with a baby figurine on top. When she accidentally swallows the plastic baby, they seem medical help, and instead find the Carolina Women’s Health Center, located in South Carolina.
“I have a baby inside me and I want to take it out of me,” says Borat’s daughter, Tutar, also known in the film as Sandra Jessica Parker Sagdiyev. She is played by Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova.

Of course, pastor Jonathan Bright, who is counseling Borat and Tutar, doesn’t understand that the baby she wants removed is made of plastic.
“When you say ‘Take it out,’ you end that life,” Bright says. “That life will die.”

Borat explains that he is the one responsible.
“I feel bad because I was the one who put the baby in her,” says Borat, slapping himself on the wrist.
The pastor responds, inexplicably: “You don’t need to feel bad.”
“I was just trying to give my daughter pleasure and next thing I know, there is a baby inside her,” Borat elaborates.
The pastor slowly seems to make sense of the situation, such as it is.
The actress who plays Borat’s daughter was initially identified on IMDb as Irina Nowak, but is actually the 24-year-old Bakalova, an actress who previously appeared in the Bulgarian film Transgression. She was largely unknown in the U.S. prior to playing Borat’s daughter in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, but did win best actress at Toronto’s AltFF Alternative Film Festival in 2018 for playing a teenager with a secret in Transgression.
The Greenville Post and Courier ran a story Oct. 3 — weeks before the release of Borat Subsequent Moviefilm — that provides some behind-the-scenes detail of how the cupcake and clinic sequences were shot: The newspaper says the filmmakers claimed they were “filming a documentary about a poor father whose daughter had never tasted a cupcake.” The crew returned a few weeks later, rented the bakery and paid for the display case to be filled with cupcakes. Kathy Tucker appears in the film selling the cupcake with the baby figurine.
“We thought it was a little weird, but we were just going along with it,” Tucker told the Post and Courier. “We didn’t know it was going to be in Borat. We just thought it was going to be a documentary. It was going to be a little crazy.”
The paper said Bright and the pregnancy center did not returns calls seeking comment.
The clip was the first extended scene released from Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, which arrived on Amazon Prime on Friday, Oct. 23, 14 years after the original Borat. In both films, Cohen plays a hapless foreigner whose ignorance puts Americans at ease enough to reveal how they really feel. Laughter and lawsuits ensue.
