The third annual Los Angeles Greek Film Festival will take place at The Egyptian Theatre from June 25 through June 28 featuring seven feature films, seven documentaries and eight shorts, with 15 films enjoying their U.S. premieres. The festival’s Opening Night Gala presentation will showcase Christos Georgiou’s Small Crime and finish with Alexis Kardara’s Guinness, starring Antonis Kafetzopoulos, as its Closing Night Gala presentation. Other highlights of the event include a tribute to director Penelope Spheeris and a special panel discussion, “Beyond Borders: Greece on the International Film Stage,” with slated panelists Nia Vardalos (My Life in Ruins) and Phedon Papamichael (Arcadia Lost). The Los Angeles Film Festival aims to boast new films from Greek filmmakers worldwide and to promote and nurture Greek Cinema while bridging the gap between Greek filmmakers and Hollywood. The festival also offers screenings of film masterworks, seminars on important contemporary film issues and tributes to significant filmmakers and performers of Greek origin.
