Ezra Miller: The Flash actor, who has had lots of legal drama lately, has apologized for the recent behavior and is seeking help for “complex mental health issues.”
Better Call Saul‘s Future: I will spoil nothing about last night’s moving Better Call Saul finale, but for those of you who have seen it, here are the show’s stars, Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn, speculating about what happens to the surviving members of the ensemble cast. Spoilers, obviously.
Is This the End of the Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul Universe? Vince Gilligan, who created Breaking Bad and co-created Saul with Peter Gould, said at a Television Critics Association panel last week: “You can’t keep putting all your money on red 21. I feel like we probably pushed it doing a spinoff to Breaking Bad [but] I could not be more happy with the results. Then I did El Camino and I’m very proud of that too. But I think I’m starting to sense you’ve got to know when to leave the party, you don’t want to be the guy with a lampshade on your head.”
Pugh Says Eww: Florence Pugh would like everyone to please stop fixating on her sex scene with Harry Styles in the Don’t Worry Darling trailer. (Am I the only one who didn’t remember that there was a sex scene with Harry Styles in the Don’t Worry Darling trailer?) Anyway, Pugh declined to discuss the matter with Harper’s Bazaar, explaining: “the people who made it are bigger and better than that.”
Tell Me You’re Gen X Without Telling Me You’re Gen X: I have never knowingly heard and cannot name a single Harry Styles song. Also I don’t remember the name of the group he was in. Was it One Direction? I confuse them with OneRepublic.
Speaking of OneRepublic: They’re featured on the DVD/Blu-Ray/4K Ultra HD release of Top Gun: Maverick on November 1. The film will be released digitally August 23. The movie will have 110 minutes of extras, which you can read all about here. Also: See it in a theater.
HBO Max Layoffs: Roughly 70 HBO Max staff members have been laid off as part of a wider reorganization at parent company Warner Bros. Discovery, the New York Times reports.
Overdue: Sacheen Littlefeather, who was booed and semi-blacklisted for taking the stage at the 1973 Oscars to refuse Marlon Brando’s award for The Godfather and call for better treatment of Native Americans, has finally received an apology from the Academy. She accepted it with unsurprising grace and a pretty great joke, and will take part in an Academy event next month.
