Timothée Chalamet and Anya Taylor-Joy fans, rejoice: Luca Guadagnino’s Bones & All, starring Chalamet, and Mark Mylod’s The Menu, starring Taylor-Joy, are featured in the lineup for Fantastic Fest 2022 taking place from Sept. 22-29 in Austin, Texas.
Known for bringing the heat with horror films, this year’s fantastic fest won’t skimp on genre movies. Parker Finn’s horror film Smile will open the festival, following the story of a doctor who starts having frightening experiences after a traumatic incident involving a patient.
The much-anticipated cannibal love story Bones & All follows a young woman (Taylor Russell) living on the fringes of society and a drifter (Timothée Chalamet) as they navigate a troubled world and search for identity. Guadagnino will be there for the screening, which marks the film’s Texas premiere.
The Menu, starring Taylor-Joy alongside Ralph Fiennes and Nicholas Hoult, follows a young couple who travel to a remote island to try a restaurant where the chef has some shocking surprises for them on — you guessed it — the menu. Mylod will be in attendance for the U.S. premiere of the film.
Ruben Östlund’s Palme d’Or winner Triangle of Sadness, which follows a luxury ocean-liner whose filthy rich passengers must fight for survival when the ship sinks and leaves survivors stranded on a desert island, and Park Chan-wook’s Decision to Leave, which follows a detective who meets the mysterious wife of the man whose death he is investigating in the mountains, will both make their U.S. premieres.
Chan-wook, the South Korean director known for films like The Handmaiden and his Vengeance trilogy, will be also receiving a lifetime achievement award at this year’s festival.
Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees of Inisherin, which reunites the director with his In Bruges stars Brendan Gleeson Colin Farrell, will also make its Texas premiere at Fantastic Fest.
