‘Very Mystical’: Ana de Armas strongly felt the presence of Marilyn Monroe while playing her in Blonde — especially during scenes shot in Monroe’s home, on the anniversary of her death. “I think she was approving what we were doing,” de Armas said at a Q&A about the film today at the Venice Film Festival. “Maybe this sounds very mystical, or something but it was true. Colin Farrell on ‘Good Chatter’: The Banshees of Inisherin star believes good chatter can save us all. “To have conversation, to exchange ideas in a way that is as open to your opinion being changed as it is to your opinion being shared — that’s a gorgeous thing.” Here’s Caleb, our man in Venice, with more.

Five-Finger Discount: Sharp-eyed House of the Dragon fans noticed that in one scene in the (stupendous) third episode, King Viserys (Paddy Considine), who is missing two fingers, has his two supposed-to-be fingers wrapped in green. The plan was to digitally remove them later, which someone forgot to do. Look, VFX houses are very backed up right now, as COVID-delayed projects roar back online, so let’s all remember to give VFX folks some grace and place the blame squarely where it belongs: Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav. Anyway, THR reports that the error will be fixed soon so watch fast if you want to laugh at King Fingerhaver.
