Top Gun Sickness: If you’re grossed out by the thought of worms, at least you aren’t trapped in a fighter jet dealing with G forces. Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski recently talked with the Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s Cinema Society about all the actors who got sick while shooting the film.
Today in IP: Disney+ is “actively looking” to develop an Indiana Jones TV show. It would presumably not star Harrison Ford, since he’s said he’s done playing everyone’s favorite archaeologist named after a Midwestern state after Indiana Jones 5. Variety has details, but not, like, an excessive number of details. Hey, maybe they could call it Young Indiana Jones.
Stranger Things Meets Deadpool Meets Star Wars: In other IP news, Shawn Levy, who is directing Deadpool 3 and is an executive producer and director of Stranger Things, is also in talks to direct a new Star Wars film, Deadline reports. As usual with these kinds of reports, there are no details on what the movie would be, you know, about. Others currently developing Star Wars films include Taiki Waititi, Patty Jenkins, Damon Lindelof…
You Know What? It might be easier at this point to just list everyone who is not currently developing a Star Wars movie. Based on our extensive research, the number of people not currently doing anything related to Star Wars includes: Martin Scorsese, Spike Lee, Whit Stillman, Greta Gerwig, former President Jimmy Carter, Ryan Murphy, David Chase, Vladmir Putin, and, as of this writing, Louis CK. We’ll update this list if anything changes.
Great Interview: If you haven’t, check out James Hibberd’s terrific talk with Sylvester Stallone in The Hollywood Reporter about his career highs — and regrets. One of those regrets is that he won’t be in Creed III, partly to his feud with producer Irwin Winkler. “That’s a regretful situation because I know what it could have been. It was taken in a direction that is quite different than I would’ve taken it. It’s a different philosophy — Irwin Winkler’s and Michael B. Jordan’s. I wish them well, but I’m much more of a sentimentalist. I like my heroes getting beat up, but I just don’t want them going into that dark space. I just feel people have enough darkness,” Stallone says.
