Luca Guadagnino: Armie Hammer Would Be in Call Me By Your Name 2

Luca Guadagnino is still considering making a sequel to Call Me By Your Name — and if it ever does get made, he says Armie Hammer would still be in it.

That’s a pretty significant decision, considering the allegations of physical and sexual assault that have been made against Hammer by several women. Some of the women said that Hammer described to them a desire to eat human flesh — a concept that also just happens to be at the center of Bones & All, Guadagnino’s new movie with his other Call Me By Your Name star, Timothée Chalamet. This is purely coincidental, according to Variety. Hammer has strongly denied all of the allegations, which were detailed at length in the new Discovery+ docuseries House of Hammer.

“I would love to make a second and third and fourth chapter of all my movies,” Guadagnino told Variety. “Why? Because I truly love the actors I work with, so I want to repeat the joy of doing what we did together.”

When asked whether Hammer’s character Oliver, the older man that Chalamet’s character Elio falls in love with, would be a part of the sequel, Guadagnino replied, “Yeah, of course.”

But be warned — if a Call Me By Your Name sequel does happen, it’s a ways off. He doesn’t have anything concrete in place right now, but Guadagnino says it’s still on his mind.

“There is no hypothesis, so there is no movie. It’s a wish and a desire, and I have not made up my mind about what would be the story,” he said.

A direction he’s liking at the moment is to follow Mafalda, the housekeeper played by Vanda Capriolo who lives with Elio’s family.

“I would be very interested in seeing what is the life of Mafalda when she’s not around the family,” Guadagnino said.
