It’s the perfect shade for medium skin with golden undertones. The doe-foot applicator means it’s precise enough to use without lipliner; you just need to clean up the edges before it sets. e.l.f Glow Reviver Lip Oil — Jam Session

I got turned onto this lip oil because of my sister and I’ve been obsessed ever since. It’s fairly subtle in colour if you just put on one coat, but it gets more pigmented the more you add on, so you have complete flexibility in how dramatic it looks. It goes on smooth and feels lovely, and gives you a nice glossy shine without any of the stickiness or drying effect of normal lipgloss. I have a fairly dark skin tone with mostly cool undertones so I tend to veer towards darker colours because bright pinks and orange tones don’t look good on me.

Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick — Miss America

For a red lip, I always reach for this Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Ultra-Comfort Transfer-Proof Lipstick. It’s great for pale skin and cool undertones as “Miss America” is more of a deep red (less orangey!). I always wear this with minimal skin makeup and a simple eye — just mascara and eyeliner — or else it’s a bit too much all together. I also dab a bit on my cheeks for blush, but only a pea-sized amount because it is very pigmented! The lipstick lasts a really long time — which means you need to make sure to put it on right the first time, otherwise it’s a nightmare to rub off and redo.

Tom Ford Gloss Luxe — Phantôme

I love this high-shine Tom Ford liquid balm. I typically style it with a more elegant black dress or pants for that chic, neat look. I have a more pale skin tone, so darker red shades suit me better.

I’m more into natural nude lip looks, but if I do need to spice up my makeup with a red lip I use one from Peripera, a Korean brand. The shade complements my tan skin and cool undertones perfectly. I also like a more soft, powdery matte finish so I typically apply three generous dots of product on my lips and blend it out with a finger! I bought this because it was cheap, but it actually ended up being the perfect red lip for me! I have neutral golden undertones with darker lips (and a fair-ish skin tone), and the product doesn’t show up orange at all — even when blotted, which is my preferred style. I also use it as a blush!

Dior Addict Hydrating Shine Lipstick — Dior 8

I have tried a million red lipsticks in search of a “true red” shade (including cult-classics from M.A.C. and Sephora), and never found one that didn’t appear pink on my extremely pale and freckled skin. Then I tried “Dior 8”. It’s marketed as a bright orangey shade, but on me it shows up as the perfect Madonna-esque ruby red. It’s not very long-lasting, but I have no issue reapplying as the formula is so comfortable and hydrating.

There’s no hard and fast rule that you must spend the day cosied up with your other half, indulging in chocolate liqueurs and dining by candlelight (unless you want to, of course!), so why not mix it up this year and invite Cupid to the party with your best girls by your side? Whether you want to gather at a friend’s house for an intimate party with cheeseboards and wine aplenty, head out for karaoke or brunch, or hit the town for a Girl’s Night Out (let’s be thankful it falls on a Friday this year!), we’ve rounded up the best ways to celebrate Galentine’s Day in 2025!

Choose A Theme

Parties are always more fun when there’s a theme! Take Halloween as an example — it wouldn’t be the spooky occasion it’s cracked up to be without blood-coloured cocktails, haunting homeware and ghoulish décor – so why should Galentine’s Day be any different? Once you’ve decided on a venue, think about what decorations and knick-knacks are needed to pull it all together. You could go for the classic heart-shaped bunting, or you could truly embrace the spirit of Galentine’s with pink champagne glasses, sophisticated floral arrangements and endless baked goods.

Sassy Tip: Be the hostess with the mostest with goodie bags for all your friends to take home to remember this special day. You could include chocolates, tiny perfumes, nail polish, gift vouchers, red lipsticks, matching jewellery (did mood rings ever go out of style?) and personalised cards.

Sort Out Food & Drinks

There are a couple of ways you can go with this, and all have their pros and cons. If you fancy yourself a Master Chef or just love getting busy in the kitchen, whip up the snacks and mains yourself to make sure it’s all on-theme. Bakers might lean towards heart-shaped cookies and cupcakes with pink frosting and sprinkles, or you could put out a beautiful (and Instagrammable) charcuterie plate, towers of tiny sandwiches and mini pizzas. The main drawbacks here are time and money. It’ll take a good chunk out of your day to cook everything, it might cost a pretty penny to buy all the food and drinks, and there’s no worse way for a party to be spoiled than by someone having an allergic reaction because you weren’t diligent about the ingredients!

You could always opt for a potluck as many gatherings do. This ensures everyone gets involved and the burden isn’t on you to please everyone. Just make sure there’s some kind of planning done beforehand (including enough cutlery and crockery for everyone) so you don’t wind up with all your guests arriving with red velvet cakes and prosecco – not that that wouldn’t make for a great party…

Get it catered! This is the most expensive of the options, but also the most hassle-free. Hong Kong has several catering companies for a wide variety of cuisines, many of them will come to set up with their own equipment and some even provide staff to help serve and clean up when it’s over. You could even turn to multiple companies to make sure everyone’s tastes are accounted for – doesn’t a sushi and BBQ party sound amazing?

Plan Fun Activities

First step: know your audience! The last thing you need is to announce a game and have a chorus of groans and eye-rolling. If your guests are a close-knit group, there’s a good chance they’ll just be happy with free-flowing booze and nibbles to keep them satiated for the whole day. But if you want your friends to come away with a unique experience, consider this:

Source bountiful blossoms from your local flower shop and create a DIY flower arranging workshop – you can even have prizes for the most beautiful bouquet (perhaps an elegant vase to take their masterpiece home in?).
Order in from a liquor store and have yourselves a tasting session – of course, rosé would be the obvious choice, but you could try white or red wines from all over the world or venture out into other spirits if your girls can handle their booze!
If you’re veering away from alcohol-centric events (Dry January didn’t quite work out for us, but we’re still trying!), you can do tasting sessions with pretty much anything, from cheese and cold cuts to unique fruits and teas.
Reach out to makeup-artists in Hong Kong to see if they can drop in for some makeovers! You might want to give your friends a heads-up so they don’t arrive with a full face already on and are ready to go from drab to fab in the flick of a mascara wand. Why not hire a photographer to capture all the Galentine’s fun and maybe do an “impromptu” photoshoot once everyone’s dolled up?
At-Home Bake Off! Get yourselves all the necessary raw ingredients from your nearest supermarket, some cute cookie cutters and food colouring and have a themed Bake Off with your best mates. Extra points if the final product both looks and tastes amazing! Just keep your fingers crossed it doesn’t get too messy…

While there are no set rules for how you can celebrate this day, there are some activities and events that just scream “this is our day now!” more than others.

Té Bo: Unpretentious fusion fine dining

Want to treat your boo to an exquisite meal without the fuss of fine dining? Té Bo fits the bill. Its six-course set menu starts out with light snacks: buñuelos and cured mackerel, crispy cheesy potatoes with pickled daikon and beef tartare topped with caviar.
