The temperature is rising in the city and this heat is borderline unbearable, but we have a bunch of budget-friendly events that just might lure you out of the house. From open mic poetry to historical exhibitions, free booze and more, here are the best free events in Hong Kong this July.
American DJ Fire Aux is back to host another Auxidize party – this time he’ll be taking over Cobra Beach Club. There will be an excellent lineup of DJs, performances and scrumptious snacks courtesy of the spicy boys from Spice Market.
The first ever line of Auxidise merch will also be available for purchase on the day, with proceeds going towards supporting the Black Lives Matter movement in the US and the homeless in Hong Kong.

Channel your inner Emily Dickinson and perform your poems, or simply listen to others recite their rhymes. Peel Street Poetry will also be holding its regular poetry workshop from 7pm (open mic starts at 8pm). Plus, enjoy 2-4-1 drinks until 9pm.

The Hive is hosting its annual Meet The Crafters event, filling its marketplace with the city’s most talented artisans and crafters. This is your chance to meet them and join a workshop or two in which you can learn their craft.

99 Bottles is celebrating its third birthday with a massive party and loads of free drinks – 999 to be exact! If you were there last year you’ll know to get there early before the booze runs out. Expect to see bottles from sponsors Hong Kong Beer Co., 2towns Cider, Seek Out Hard Seltzer and more.

Browse through a wide variety of green living products from around the world at the city’s largest exhibition of its kind. Featuring brands such as Oatly, Beyond Burger and OmniPork, this is your one-stop source for all things vegetarian and vegan.

Let your eyes guide you through Tai Kwun’s new exhibition Look Left Look Right: Historical Signage, which retraces the compound’s history with a focus on old signs that occupied the walls of the historic Central Police Station until its decommissioning in 2006.
If you’re there on a weekend, you can book in a 20-minute guided tour with a former staff member or expert in signage research and conservation. Take a sneak peek of the exhibition via an interactive Signage Journey before your visit.
